Wouldn't it be nice  if politicians could speak the truth  and still get elected?
Since they can't, we are going to speak it for them.

Obama Versus McCain-bush

.

What Are the Differences Between

Barack Obama and John McCain-bush

.

.

.

Some people will call this page dirty campaigning.  One heeds to consider this:

In a political campaign who sets the ethical level?

The side with the lowest ethical standards . . .    If your opponent is using negative campaigning and you're not,  you lose.    John McCain proved that in the 2000 Presidential campaign.

Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich, and the others of like character have not gone away.   They are merely out of site.    Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich were both at the Republican convention.

Foreign Policy         ...

Foreign Policy

.

Here's as example of redefining what
Senator McCain-bush is calling his strong point and turning it into a weak point.

When one looks at human history, it is very much a history of war.   In the twentieth century alone, our political leaders murdered over one hundred million of our fellow human beings.   Today we have military-controlled dictatorships running numerous countries around the world.   In many other countries, we have fascist dictatorships that are only in power because of the support of the military.   Right now as I write this,  (May 2008) hundreds of thousands  of Myanmar citizens (formerly known as Burma) are wallowing in destruction, filth, and misery in the aftermath of a major earth quake while the military-controlled government refused to allow aid workers to enter the country and help the sick, the injured, and the dying.

Don't you think we've had enough military rule?
Don't you think it's time for a change?

John McCain-bush

If more war is what you want, John McCain-bush is you man.

Senator McCain-bush supports George Bush and his fraudulently justified war in Iraq.   McCain is a war hero who endured the toughest of pain, misery and torture at the hands of people we wrongly attacked in Viet Nam.    He claims that his torture and his forced confessions do not affect his life today.   He then he uses that same experience to justify why he's more qualified  than Senator Obama.   They can't both be true, so we wonder which one is the lie.  If he actually is beyond his past, I'd call that a miracle.   Can you imaging the anger and the  psychological trauma that such an experience produces?   Do you want a 72-74-year-old man carrying that much internal baggage to have his finger on the nuclear trigger?

Barack Obama

If peace and cooperation is what you want.  Barack Obama is your leader.   Senator Obama publicly said he would talk with those who consider Americans as their enemy.   Let me share a quote that I remember reading in the Reader's Digest many years ago:

.

I destroyed an enemy today.  One usually does not brag about such activity, but I made this enemy my friend.

.

One might stop to ask, "How many nations has the United States been at war with in the past that are now considered to be our friends?"  Without giving this more than a cursory glance, England, Germany, Japan, and Russia immediately come to mind.

Time after time after time, for centuries, cooperation has proven to be far more productive that fighting.   Perhaps its' time to wake up and realize that war is an extremely costly ² and totally obsolete way to resolve human differences.

Age-McCain                                                ...

Age - McCain Is Too Old

.

Why do we  have a minimum age limit for an American President?   To insure competency!   Perhaps we should also have a maximum age limit.   There are several reasons that support this idea.    For example, the rate of change in the world is fast and getting faster.  Keeping up with the changes going on around us is becoming a major problem.   To see the obvious evidence of this, all you have to do is ask a teacher of a doctor.   Teaching a middle-age dog new tricks is tough enough.   Teaching an old dog is all but impossible.

As another example, when we look back at former President Ronald Regan, we can see the problems with having men way past retirement age running the country.   You may recall, that as Governor of California, Ronald Regan, not only expressed a kind, compassionate and generous personality, he was also a skilled and competent negotiator and administrator.

Unfortunately, by the time he reached the presidency, his age was slowing him down.  During his second term, he was often ridiculed by the comedians and being an absent minded fuddy duddy.   Compassion rather than ridicule would have been more appropriate, because, although the public didn't know, he was in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease -- a disease that destroyed his mind.   In terms of his being the man in charge (particularly during his second term)  for the most part, he let his subordinates run the country.  They succeeded in raping the public treasury.

Perhaps it's time to bring out of retirement the line: "It's Bedtime for Bonzo."   Perhaps  it's time for a change.  Perhaps it's time to start having the younger generations to run the country.

John McCain-bush

Senator McCain is 71 years old.  (Born August 29,1936).  If he is elected he will be the oldest person (72) ever sworn in as a first term President.  If he is still alive at the end of his term, he will be  76 years old.

You might also note that Senator McCain is a cancer survivor.  Although he may be in good health today,  potential health problems are not that far away.

Barack Obama

Barack Obama is 47 years old.  (Born August 4, 1961)  At the end of his Presidency, he will be 52 years old.   He is in high period of human competency and will still be in that period of competency four years from now.  He is old enough to be skilled and experienced and yet not so old as to have any of the symptoms of senility creeping up on him.

.

.

You can't be the pilot for a commercial airline if you are over age sixty five.   Perhaps it's time to change the rules for American Presidents.

                Supreme Court Nominees            ...

Supreme Court Nominees

.

The most potent and longest-lasting effect that any President can have is his Supreme Court appointments.   Thus the difference between the two candidates, on this issue alone, is enough for an aware person to choose Barack Obama

John McCain-bush

On May 6, 2008, Senator McCain publicly stated that he is completely satisfied with George Bush's Supreme Court appointees  -  conservative justices,  John  Roberts and Samuel  Alito.     Senator McCain-bush obviously intends to extend, continue, or accelerate George Bush's backward movement of the Supreme Court"  In other words, instead of keeping pace with the awakening and the spiritual growth of humanity, he intend to turn progress around and return us to the dark ages.

Barack Obama

.

.

An excellent expose of Senator McCain-bush's efforts to drag the courts  backwards can be found in an opinion/article written my Jeffrey Toobin and published in the May 26, 2008, issue of "THE NEW YORKER"

<http://www.newyorker.com/talk/comment/2008/05/26/080526taco_talk_toobin>

Here are three quotes from that article:

"McCain plans to continue, and perhaps even accelerate, George W. Bush’s conservative counter-revolution at the Supreme Court."

"The Senator has long touted his opposition to Roe, [abortion rights] and has voted for every one of Bush’s judicial appointments; the rhetoric of his speech shows that he is getting his advice on the Court from the most extreme elements of the conservative movement."

" . . .  in just three years the Roberts Court has crippled school-desegregation efforts (and hinted that affirmative action may be next); approved a federal law that bans a form of abortion; limited the reach of job-discrimination laws; and made it more difficult to challenge the mixing of church and state. "

.

The Environment

.

We are in a very unique time in biological evolution.  Humans are the only species smart enough to orchestrate their own extinction and dumb enough to actually do so.  We (the collective we) have turned on Nature's Doomsday Machine.²   If we don't turn it back off and do so very soon, nothing else that humans do will matter.  .

John McCain-bush

.

Barack Obama

Barack Obama has already  told us that one of his first act as president will be put former Vice President Al Gore in charge of examining and implementing an entirely new government policy toward the environment.

He is obviously well aware that we must care for the environment and we must start doing so now.

If you have not already seen it, you are encouraged to watch Al Gore's film/video, "An Inconvenient Truth,"

Church and State -- How Should They Relate

.

History tell us that any nation dominated by a single religious philosophy where the leaders infringes on the rights of those who hold other religious beliefs  is doomed to self-destruct.   Any competent President would say without equivocation, "I will follow the United Sates Constriction's mandate to honor all religions without favoritism."

The goal of a competent President is to  protect everyone’s religious rights.   The goal is not to exclude "God" from the government.   That is literally impossible because humans cannot separate their divine nature from the governments they create.

The  goal is to make sure everyone has the right to  relate to "The Source of All"  in any fashion he/she chooses,  including the right to deny that such a source even exists.   The goal is to avoid financing a particular religion out of the public treasury.   And the best way to do that appeared to be, and still appears to be:

To acknowledge the universal spiritual nature of man, and at the same time, keep the activities of church and state as distinct and separate as possible.

John McCain-bush

George Bush, in direct opposition to congress, instituted what is called faith-based initiative.    This is a series of programs that, in essence,  gives tax money to the fundamentalist Christian Churches.  It's done in an indirect way that conforms to the letter of the law but violates its intent.  Although no religion is excluded, the vast amount of the money is going to conservative Christian churches in which the church leaders are telling their sheep to vote for Republican candidates.   Bush has used tax money to buy fundamentalist Christian votes. (See:  Voting for God.²)    John McCain-bush is following in the footsteps of "Resident" Bush and will almost certainly continue to use tax money to buy votes.

The Death Penalty

.

Is capital punishment, really punishment?   That depends upon which of the three fundamental religious assumptions is correct --  Christian one-life-ism   --   Atheism   --   Reincarnation.   The vast majority of the debate on this issue ignores the religious implications of what death really is and what happens to a person when he/she dies.   When we add the ignored religious dimension to this debate,  the picture of this controversy changes dramatically.    Reference:  Capital Punishment ²

Forced Motherhood  --  Abortion

.

The evidence, or more accurately the lack of evidence, indicates that Reproductive Choice is a religious freedom issue.   It's a  religious freedom issue because:

We don’t know    What Life Is ²

We don’t know   What a Human Being Actually Is,
²
                  We don’t know
When an Independent Human Life Begins,
²
And we have no way to find out.

John McCain-bush

John McCain-bush supports forced motherhood.   McCain-bush and his Republican team will continue to work to eliminate a woman's reproductive rights.

Barack Obama

Barack Obama and the vast majority of the Democratic team supports reproductive rights.
